Some great news on this end: the audio rights for Running: A Love Story have sold!
From Publisher’s Marketplace: “Audio Rights: Jen A. Miller’s Running: A Love Story, a candid memoir from a runner in the middle-of-the-pack, to Brian Sweany at Recorded Books, by Mackenzie Bready at New Leave Literary & Media (NA)”
What that means: If you’re an audio book person, you can chose to hear rather than read the book next spring. That’s very exciting for you, and for me too because it means that while I’m still not going to buy a boat with my advance money, I could seriously think about a single engine dinghy if I was interested in owning a boat in the first place. I don’t know who will read it. This is why I have an agent – she worries about this stuff while I write away.
Speaking of which: it’s going okay. I knew this wasn’t going to be all sunshine and rainbows, and I’ve had a head cold for the last two (!) weeks, which isn’t helping. But I’ve started reading chapters aloud to trusted friends, which is the next step in editing. I’ll turn in two more chapters on Feb. 16.
I’m also spending a lot of time thinking about how to re-decorate my home. So far I’ve bought new linens for the bathroom, art for that bathroom, new towels, new tablecloth for the dining room table, new blanket for the couch in my reading room, and I’m also on the hunt for new sheets. I have no idea why I’m doing this, probably because I’m spending a lot of time in my house between my regular work and book writing. I might as well make it pretty.
