This week marks the end of the “easy” training. I’ll put in 24 miles by Sunday, then jump up to 39 next week. At that point, this schedule also includes one “strength” workout (what most of you would call speedwork) and one tempo run a week. Gulp – not just about the higher mileage, but tempo runs are the worst.
I knew this was coming, but I didn’t want to quite think about it yet, especially since I don’t know where I’ll be on Tuesday when I need to do 12 400 meter repeats.
That’s because…I’m on vacation! Hooray! I’m working on a story about running on vacation, so I won’t say to much here except that I’m glad the tough stuff didn’t start this week. The first part of trip is Disney with my family. Yesterday I ran five miles (sorry, didn’t see the track suit people) then walked more than 13. My legs are beat. I don’t know how I’d be able to throw a tempo run on top of that.
I drove to Florida and am driving back, but I’m taking a week for the return journey. Where will I go? No idea. But I know I’ll be running a lot wherever I’ll be.
