Every week when I sit down to write this newsletter (or stand since I have a standing desk), I review what photos I took during the week week to pick one for the top of the newsletter. In doing this week's review, I realized I completely forgot that Monday was the Phillies home opener.
SO MUCH IS HAPPENING. I'm grateful that enough people care about my book that they come out to readings and signings and all that jazz, but I hit a wall about an hour after I finished the B.A.A. 5k on Saturday. I'd done an event in Boston the night before, got up early to run the race, had a coffee at Panera, and then descended into head cold hell. The only surprising thing about it was that I didn't get sick earlier. Book release + marathon training + my regular job = tired Jen. If you saw a woman in black jeans and brown North Face jacket crying in Boston Common on Saturday afternoon, yeah – that was me.
I feel better today. My foot seems to be cooperating, and I've gotten in two good nights of sleep (thanks Walgreens equivalent of NyQuil). Yesterday, my mom and I scrubbed my porch, which was oddly soothing. So let's gear up for the week ahead, shall we? I had a few big stories published last week so let's get at it.
Tomorrow! I'll be at the Emmaus Run Inn at 6pm.
Thursday! It's Girls Night Out in Downtown Haddonfield, and I'll be at InkwoodNJ for a reading and signing starting at 7pm.
Next Thursday! Bryn Mawr Running Company's Media location is where it's at. Run starts at 6pm.
There's more of course – peep into last week's newsletter to see events that start up in May.
"Finally honoring Bobbi Gibb, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon" for espnW
"For women who run, the bathroom problem" for The New York Times
"Why I run: It's not pretty or elegant, but it's the best way to clear your head" for The Guardian
Jen Talks About Her Book
"Jen Miller is running toward her life" in Philly Voice
Interview on Running Flat Radio
My segment on 6ABC ran on Sunday too…at 5am (hey we take what we can get). It's not online, but a friend DVRed it for me so I'll see if I can share that next week too.
What I'm Reading
I finished Drums of Autumn! I'm not complaining about the book, but 880 pages meant I spent a long time with it. Now I'm onto Who Censored Roger Rabbit? which I'm reading for an upcoming episode of the podcast Book Fight!
What I'm Watching
I finished Flaked, even though I was still meh on it. The show didn't seem to come together, but it wasn't a complete waste to watch it. Now I'm onto Catastrophe, which is great. If you don't listen to Pop Culture Happy Hour, check it out. They talked about it a bit in last week's episode about rom coms in a more eloquent way than I could.
