ISN'T SHE PRETTY?
There she is! I am overjoyed to offer you, newsletter readers, a first peek at the cover for my next book.
"When can I rush out and buy it, Jen?!" I can hear you asking.
If you were here, I'd shout back "March 22! What a glorious spring day I imagine it will be! But if you really really need to know right now that you'll have a copy reserved just for you, you can pre-order it now. And I thank you!" Then, if you were really here, I'd give you a high five, or a hug if you're not a complete stranger.
I've spent a long time making this book come to life, but it's becoming much more real now. This is amazing! It's wonderful! And it's slightly terrifying! All at the same time! And thank you for paying attention to that very important announcement.
How do you transition from that into regular newsletter blather? Well, I'll try.
In other news (sorry)…it was a busy week around these parts. On Wednesday, I had my new headshots taken. Then on Thursday, my story about losing 25 pounds – the one I wasn't sure I wanted to write – ran in the New York Times. On Sunday, I ran the Sloppy Cuckoo quarter marathon and took a pretty hard fall. I finished seventh female and fourth in my age group, but I cut open my hand, scraped up my arm, and I'm bruised from hip to knee on my right side (why do I always fall on my right side?) My knee is mad at me. But it's my fault – I was up front and ran too aggressively before the tumble. Oh well. Bodies heal, thanks goodness.

What I'm Reading
The Meadowlands: Wilderness Adventures at the Edge of a City by Robert Sullivan. I know almost nothing about the Meadowlands except it's the stadium in which the New York Superbowl was played in New Jersey. This book is fascinating. Excellent suggestion (and loan) from a friend.
What I'm Watching
The Flash. Took me long enough – and it might take me a while to get through it since there are more than 20 episodes in the first season! And it's an hour-long show! (I bought it on Amazon but it's now streaming for free on Netflix). I also re-watched High Society, which is ridiculous and wonderful at the same time. It's on Netflix if you'd like to indulge too. And I saw the movie version of The Martian. Good stuff. I'm glad I read the book first though.
