Ladies & Gents:
Summer! It’s still here! Despite all the pumpkin beer on liquor store shelves and school supplies on sale, summer is in full bloom. We’re at peak farmer’s market over here in Collingswood. Delicious time to be in New Jersey.
I spent most of the week making up work from while I was gone, so not too exciting. The Offices of Jen A. Miller are also under construction (a.k.a. a contractor’s replacing the basement door into my house, and the stucco around said door is being repaired), so I’m sticking close to home until that work is done. On Saturday, though, I got into “I am my own housewife” mode and made pesto to freeze for later in the year, experimented with squash blossoms, and baked zucchini bread to eat for breakfast all week (recipe from an old Betty Crocker Cookbook).
On Sunday, I went off roading with a group of other Jeeps in the Wharton State Forest. This was my first real off roading trip. No one did anything that required us to deploy the tow ropes, so I’d say it was a successful outing. We also used CB radios, which was more fun that I expected. My grandfather always had one on in his truck and sometimes let me talk to the truckers.
Speaking of Jeeps: Thursday is the one year of anniversary of buying my Wrangler. Love love love her. I would not have taken these road trips without that car. Working on another article about her now.

What I’m Watching
Two things: Magic City and Arrested Development. Magic City is absolutely gorgeous, a Starz series set in Miami in 1959. I collect vintage clothes, and I have a lot from that era, so I ooh and aaah over the fashion quite a bit. Oh the show? It’s dark. It’s okay. I can see why it only lasted two seasons.
I’ve watched Arrested Development as zillion times, and when Magic City got a bit *too* dark to watch while baking on a Saturday, I switched to AD. I’m still picking up things I missed the first zillion times around, like when a chyron is in the wrong place, or Tobias is creeping up in the background of a news report featuring Carl Wheathers. I also missed that after his trip to Leather Daddy, Tobias is in fact wearing assless chaps – but the cut offs stop us from seeing his cheeks. Just genius.
I also watched Mansfield Park for the first time. I’m not quite sure how it slipped through my radar when it came out. Thanks Netflix. The movie was also a reminder to check in on Jonny Lee Miller’s ultra running. Still going strong.
