That's me at the Capital City Book Fair in Trenton on Saturday. I love that dress (as do bees, apparently. I had to stop reading from my book to avoid being stung).
According to my records (i.e. me checking my Etsy purchase history just now), I bought it from StarStampedeVintage in January 2015. It's a 1980s but one that to me feels 1960s in color with a somewhat 1950s housedress shape. It's lovely while comfortable and loose enough that I can wear a slip under it, which is a major plus on hot days (as is its looseness). It feels casual but doesn't look like it is. I'll probably wear it again on Friday at the ASJA Conference. And that ends your lesson in Jen's dress. I think the belt is from another vintage dress that I no longer have.
That speech was the last book event I'm doing until June 1. I'm going to luxuriate in not traveling for a while if that's alright with you.
But hey I started running again! I did 2.6 miles yesterday and squeaked in two this morning. My legs still aren't 100% recovered from the marathon, but it's time to get in lean and mean shape. Do you follow the Rock on Instagram? If you don't, PLEASE do! Not only is he the most positive person I follow, but he also talks a lot about fitness because: duh. He recently posted about how he's transitioning from a lean physique his character required for the upcoming Baywatch reboot to monster muscles for the next Fast & Furious movie. I'm going from marathon shape (which for me is carrying a few extra pounds – and I'm OK with that because I don't want to be that strict with my diet when I'm running all of the miles, and I still PRed) to a leaner frame with less body fat and much more muscle. I'm planning to run another fall road mile and some serious trail mileage. Fingers crossed that I get into the Shut In Ridge Trail Run. If I don't, I'll start looking around for something else that's challenging and scary and wonderful.

Jen Talks About Her Book
Book Fight Episode 126. If you haven't listened to any of these podcasts, I encourage you to listen to this one for a few reasons: First, we talk about Who Censored Roger Rabbit, the book that inspired the movie Roger Rabbit. It's almost ENTIRELY different. I also talk about Cool World. I also also did this interview soon after concussing myself, so I may have been a little looser in the lips than usual.
What I'm Reading
I'm still on Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life by William Finnegan. So good. Also a great reminder that in order to be a professional journalist working at a high level, you don't need to have been to journalism school. At least that's what I keep telling myself as I gear up for another round of Big Story Pitching and writing my next book proposal.
What I'm Watching
I keep flipping between Grace & Frankie and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Part of that is because Crazy Ex-Girlfriendis free through iTunes, but doesn't always stream right on my iPad. So when I go to download a new episode, I watch one of Grace & Frankie. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is HYSTERICAL. Please watch. Grace & Frankie is pretty funny too.
