I'm crushed. I know I have a dedicated readers, but this isn't a big newsletter, the price of using Tinyletter being free is what made writing a niche publication possible. While I do make money from ebook sales, it's usually less per month than the fees I've seen for other newsletter platforms. I'm also in the Never Substack category, so I'm at a bit of a loss about what's next.
Losing the archives hurts too. I know they're linked to in so many places, and those links are going to be dead.
I do want you to know that I'm not going away. Notes from a Hired Pen has existed in different forms since I started writing about being a freelance writer. I'm exploring other newsletter options (I KNOW we're going to get more advice on this since a lot of creators are in the same boat) and/or moving the archives and the newsletter onto my website to run it as a blog you can subscribe to.
If you have any suggestions, reply to this email and let me know.
I have until the end of February to make a move. So stay tuned.
